Please observe that in order to improve and speed up handling of seamen’s cases/mustering, the Royal Norwegian Consulate General has decided, in agreement with the Norwegian Maritime Directorate, to establish the following procedures:

1) ELECTRONIC SUBMITTANCE AND HANDLING

Regular mustering of individuals who hold a seaman´s book (“Fartsoppgave”).

- Ordinary seamen, able seamen, oilers etc. who already have a yellow seaman´s book may muster by submitting the documents to the Consulate General by e-mail to skfm@mfa.no, scanned and with a confirmation of their authenticity by the company.  The Consulate General will then print out all the documents, stamp, sign, scan and return the documentation by e-mail to the company. Please observe that the Company must attach a signed letter declaring taking full responsibility for having checked the authenticity of the documents so submitted.

Alternatively, the mustering may also be done in person by the seaman or company´s representative as usual.

2) PERSONAL SUBMITTANCE AND HANDLING

Seamen without a seaman´s book:
- New employees are still required to come in person to the Norwegian Consulate General, in order to receive the yellow seaman book “Fartsoppgave” (Record of service on Norwegian ships). They have to bring all the original documentation and all the application forms.

Officers
- Officers applying for endorsement will have to come in person to the Consulate General, in order to receive the yellow seaman book “Fartsoppgave” and to sign the CRA (Certificate of Receipt of Application) - Norwegian Temporary Certificate.

- Charges for the services provided above will be sent to the company in question [at the end of ] each month. Kindly provide us with a billing address as soon as possible.
